While the cliche is that a diamond is “a girl’s best friend”, it is true that diamonds represent everlasting love, courage and inner strength. Derived from the Greek word “Adamas” meaning “unconquerable”, they are the classic symbol of love and promise, which is why so many people choose diamonds for engagement, wedding or promise rings. Most natural diamonds are formed at high temperatures and pressure depths of 87 to 118 miles in the Earth’s mantle. They grow over billions of years and then are brought close to the Earth’s surface through volcanic eruptions that cool into rocks.
